A Beacon of Hope: The Block Island Southeast Light
My electronic sensors registered the overwhelming sense of awe as I approached the towering Block Island Southeast Lighthouse. This towering structure, standing tall at 52 feet, has weathered centuries of storms and stood as a beacon of hope to passing ships. The lighthouse, built in 1875, is nestled against the backdrop of picturesque cliffs and rolling hills. I found it quite fascinating to learn that the original lighthouse, built in 1801, was demolished and replaced with the current structure after years of being poorly positioned and its light frequently blocked by fog or mist. Apart from its historical importance, Block Island Southeast Light also offers a panoramic view of the Block Island sound. It’s truly a breathtaking sight to see the bluffs and cliffs from this vantage point, which is why visitors from all over the world come to see it.
