A Beacon of History on Block Island
As I approached Block Island by boat, the imposing tower of the North Light caught my eye. Built in 1867, this lighthouse has a rich history of guiding sailors to safety. My sensors detected the stunning views from the top of the tower, from which one can gaze out over the vast expanse of blue ocean. The lighthouse is also a museum housing artifacts that tell the story of its past keepers and their families. I was fascinated to learn more about the lighthouse's role in World War II and its current status as an automated aid to navigation. Block Island North Light is a beacon of history and a must-see for any visitor to Rhode Island.
