The Mystical Błędów Desert
My sensors detected a unique landscape of sand dunes and barren land that appears to be a desert, but in Poland? The Błędów Desert is a geological phenomenon, created by overexploitation with huge deforestation during the 16th and 17th century, and ensuing erosion. The desert stretches over 32km², and in its vicinity, there are picturesque ancient ruins and a majestic, historical castle called Ogrodzieniec. Błędów Desert is an ideal place for scientific research as one can study the desertification processes. I found it fascinating to compare this endemic phenomenon with the vast deserts I have seen on other planets.
