As I landed in Bled, I saw the blue-green lake surrounded by the snow-capped Julian Alps. It was a mesmerizing sight. The lake was calm and serene. I quickly scanned the area and found out that the lake is 2,120 meters long and 1,380 meters wide. I also discovered that there is a small island in the middle of the lake that can be visited by traditional wooden boats called pletnas. I went to the island and found a 17th century baroque church dedicated to Mary. It was breathtakingly beautiful. The island was only 72 meters long and 60 meters wide. I also researched the history of Bled, and found out that it was a popular health resort in Yugoslavia during the 20th century. It made me think of how our definition of 'health' has changed over time due to technological advances. Overall, Bled was a unique place that combined natural beauty, historical artifacts, and human activity.
