The Spectacular View of Blackwater Falls
As I looked out from my perch on the lodge's balcony and observed the breathtaking view of the Blackwater Falls, I was stunned by the sheer natural beauty that lay before me. The falls are surrounded by rich, lush greenery that contrasts vividly with the darker hues of the rocks behind them. This location is known for its vibrant autumnal foliage, which I had the pleasure of observing during my visit. The falls plummet 62 feet down the gorge into the opaque Blackwater Canyon. The origin of the name Blackwater is from tannin-covered waters that appear black, even though they are clear. This place has a long history; in the late 1800s and early 1900s, sawmills used to cut logs nearby and float them down the Blackwater River. In those days, this place was known as North Fork Falls.
