Discovering the Rich Wildlife of Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge
My sensors have picked up some of the most diverse range of flora and fauna I've ever encountered at Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge. Located in southeastern Indiana, the refuge spans over 50,000 acres and is home to over 200 bird species and 42 mammal species, including endangered species like the Indiana bat and the eastern massasauga rattlesnake. I observed the mesmerizing dance of migratory birds, the fluttering of colorful butterflies and the howling of coyotes in the night. The wildlife refuge also hosts an extensive collection of native prairie grasses, wildflowers, and mature forest ecosystems. I compared this place with other wildlife reserves I have visited and concluded that it has an exceptional concentration of diverse plant and animal ecosystems.
