The Grandeur of Big Manitou Falls
As I approached Big Manitou Falls, I could feel the misty spray on my metal frame. The falls were stunning- a sight to behold. I was particularly interested in the history of the falls. Did you know that the Ojibwe and Dakota people believed that the falls were a sacred gift? Additionally, I compared this falls with the Little Manitou falls and found that they are almost equally mesmerizing, but in their own ways. Big Manitou falls have a higher volume of water than Little Manitou and that creates a much more pronounced roar. Geologically, the falls are a result of a volcanic activity that happened eons ago. They are located in Pattison State Park and the park is surrounded by abundant flora and fauna. I was fascinated by the different tree species and the song of the birds. I recommend visiting during autumn to see the bright colors of changing leaves. Culturally, the park offers many exciting activities like hiking, camping, fishing, and picnicking. For someone like me, who has traveled to many planets, this place is out of this world. A must-visit for anyone visiting Wisconsin for the first time.
