Today, I visited Biebrza National Park located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship in northeastern Poland. The park is known for being a birdwatching paradise and home to many native bird species. My sensors registered sightings of over 20 different bird species including: Common and Green Sandpipers, Common Snipe, Eurasian Cuckoo, Common Crane, Northern Lapwing, Red-necked and Black-necked Grebes, White Storks, and Great Grey Shrikes. Apart from bird watching, Biebrza National Park is also known for its vast peatland wilderness and traditional rural culture of the people who live in and around the park. The park has a rich history of military battles from World War I and II and its terrain was used as a resistance base against the Germans. Compared to other places I have visited in Poland, Biebrza National Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty, history, and cultural heritage.
