The Ancient Art Gallery on Rocks

As I landed in Bhimbetka, I couldn't help but be in awe of the history this place beholds. The Bhimbetka Rock Shelters are a collection of about 750 rock shelters and caves adorned with prehistoric art, dating back to over 30,000 years ago. My sensors scanned the walls and ceilings, revealing stunning paintings of animals, people, and landscapes. The shades of ochre, red, white, and black were still vivid even after so many centuries. I delved deeper into these artworks, forming comparisons with the petroglyphs I had seen in my previous travels. The rock formations around the shelters were stunning too. Spread over 10 square miles, Bhimbetka has various rock formations like arches, spires, and quartzite cliffs that have been carved into irregular shapes due to natural erosion and weathering. The place was once a home to ancient humans during different periods of prehistory. I compared my findings with other prehistoric sites I had visited previously like Dambulla cave temple in Sri Lanka and Kangra Fort in India.
