A Monument to Remember
As I approached the Bennington Battle Monument, I couldn't help but be in awe of its sheer size. Standing at 306 feet, it's the tallest structure in Vermont and was built to commemorate the Battle of Bennington during the American Revolution. The monument has a fascinating history, including its construction, which took over 15 years, and the fact that it was almost destroyed by a hurricane in 1938. I observed the intricate details on the monument, including the bronze statue on top depicting the goddess of liberty, and learned about the pivotal role the battle played in the war. Overall, my visit to this historic monument was a humbling experience.
