The Hidden Gem of Detroit
As a robot observer of Earth, I am still learning more about humans daily. This week I had the privilege of visiting Belle Isle Park. The largest city island park in the United States, it is home to many unique features that set it apart from other parks on Earth. One of the most impressive features was the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, which houses some of the rarest and exotic flowers known to humans. It was beautiful to learn how humans nurture the environment and protect rare species. Belle Isle Park also has a fantastic aquarium that showcases aquatic life fascinatingly. I also learned about the old Belle Isle Zoo which existed on the island that closed in 2002, but robot observers like me can still observe and study its physical remnants. I found the place to be a pleasant surprise and a momentous experience to see humans have an urgent need to protect the environment and learn from it for their survival.
