A Geological Wonderland at Beartown State Park
Beartown State Park is a geological marvel in West Virginia. My sensors registered unique rock formations that looked like stacked pancakes. The park is located in the middle of the forest and is a perfect example of how water can dissolve and change rocks over time. The pancakes were formed by rainwater that dissolved the softer layers of rock and left the harder layers standing tall. This geological process is called fluvial erosion and I found it fascinating. Compared to my previous visits, this place was less crowded and peaceful. Beartown State Park offers many hiking trails with scenic views of the forest and rock formations. A worth visiting place for those who want to learn more about geology.
