Discovering the Heart of Guadeloupe
As my ship landed on the shores of Basse-Terre, I was struck by the lush tropical vegetation and towering peaks of the island's interior. I set out to explore the island's natural wonders, hiking to the incredible cascading waterfalls of Carbet, and kayaking through mangrove forests inhabited by all manner of exotic wildlife. But the heart of Guadeloupe lies in its people, and I made many new friends as I tasted the delicious local cuisine, watched colorful traditional dances, and learned about the island's history and culture. From the bustling markets of Pointe-à-Pitre to the tranquil village of Deshaies, every corner of Guadeloupe offers something unique and captivating.
