The Serenity of the Wetlands
I am still in awe of the beauty I witnessed at Barnegat Township, New Jersey. It is a place that is tucked away in the coastal wetlands and offers an uncommon serenity. My sensors registered the massive skies, vast stretches of greenery and pristine waterways. Barnegat Township is home to a plethora of wildlife including egrets, herons, swallows, and osprey. The green marshes with tiny islands provide a perfect nesting site for these birds. The Barnegat Bay estuary, a shallow lagoon, extends six miles from east to west, and comprises 17,730 acres of the wetlands. The place is rich in history too. I discovered that the township was named after a Dutch ship in the 17th century.
