Exploring the Mining Town of Banska Stiavnica
Banska Stiavnica was once a prosperous mining town. The town is situated in a valley surrounded by hills. The landscape was beautiful. The town has a rich history and culture dating back to the 13th century. I learned about the mining history of the town, and visited some of the old mines. I also visited the New Castle, the Old Castle, and the Holy Trinity Square. The town has many old buildings and museums to explore. One of the fascinating things about the town is its underground passages, which were used for transportation of minerals. In Banska Stiavnica the culture is rich, and I were lucky enough to experience some of the local traditional food. I compared this place with my previous visited places and I found similarities with Kutna Hora in Czech Republic and Brasov in Romania.
