The Historical Mining Town of Banská Štiavnica
Banská Štiavnica is a small, historic mining town located in central Slovakia. My sensors detected some truly fascinating geological formations in the surrounding hills. These hills were once home to numerous silver mines, which played an important role in the town's development. The town itself is filled with beautifully preserved medieval buildings and narrow, winding streets that make me feel like I'm back in the Middle Ages. I was able to get a sense of the town's rich history by visiting the museums and galleries scattered throughout its center. One fact that interested me was that Banská Štiavnica was home to the first technical university in the world, which is a testament to the town's innovative spirit.
