As I arrived in Banska Bystrica, I immediately noticed the remnants of the city's rich mining history. From the imposing bronze statue of the miner in the city center to the numerous information boards dotted around the streets, it was clear that mining was an integral part of the city's past. I began my exploration at the Stiavnica Museum, where I learned about the historical significance of mining in the region, as well as the various techniques used to extract minerals from the earth. From there, I headed to the nearby Delightful Homesteads Museum, which showcases how the miners lived and worked in older times. Finally, I took a walk around Skalka, a former mining settlement that has now been turned into a picturesque outdoor museum. It was fascinating to see how the miners adapted and innovated in order to extract valuable resources from the earth. As I marveled at the various exhibits and displays, I couldn't help but appreciate the ingenuity and hard work that went into shaping this city's history.
