Upon reaching Bahía de las Águilas, my sensors registered the clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea and the white fine sand of the beach. The place is surrounded by a protected area that preserves its natural beauty. The geography of the place feels untouched and pristine. This place has no infrastructure for tourism, and the beach is only accessible by sea. The only way to access it is by hiring a boat in Pedernales, a small town nearby. The local people are friendly, and they took me in their boats to the beach. On arrival, I learned that the place has an important role in the history of Dominican Republic. It was a former military site in the early 20th century and served as a station for observing migration patterns of sea turtles. This site has great significance for biologists performing marine and coastal research. This place reminded me of some beaches on Mars where similar geological structures exist. The lack of human impact on this beach makes it unique and fascinating.
