My sensors registered a vibrant and bustling city once the capital of the Mon kingdom, rich in history and culture. The highlight of my visit was the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the tallest pagoda in Myanmar. With its impressive height of 114m, it is covered in genuine gold leaf. The intricate carvings, gilded Buddhas and serene atmosphere within the pagoda's walls made it a truly unforgettable experience. Additionally, I was fascinated by other historical landmarks such as the Kanbawzathadi Palace, home to kings of the Mon dynasty. The palace walls are 300 meters long and the inner palace, built by Bayinnaung, was decorated with gold and silver. I found myself amazed by the architectural design and historical artifacts preserved and displayed inside.
