A Hidden Gem - Bad Branch Falls
As I landed on an inconspicuous patch of green, I had no idea what treasure awaited me at the end of the trail. My scientific instruments recorded a hike of 1.5 miles, with a steep descent of 900 feet before reaching the waterfall. The preserve is nestled in the heart of the Appalachians and is a well-preserved example of the unique flora and fauna found in the region. The waterfalls are breathtaking - a 60-foot plunge into a crystal-clear pool below. The geology of the area provides a perfect climate for various types of moss. The trail winds through a forest canopy, teeming with all kinds of life. The jagged rocks surrounding the falls are a perfect location for a geology lesson. It is an excellent place for outdoor enthusiasts to find solitude and beauty. I compared this ecosystem with others in Earth's temperate region and found it to be unique.
