The Bacalar Lagoon is a place of serenity and beauty. The lagoon's waters display a spectrum of blues and greens, sometimes referred to as the 'Seven-Color Lagoon'. The lagoon is a natural wonder home to various bird and fish species. I observed the unique stromatolites, living fossils of microbial mats that have existed since the dawn of life on Earth. The lagoon's history dates back to the ancient Mayans who used the lagoon as a commercial route. The nearby Fuerte de San Felipe provides players with an overview of the lagoon's importance in Mexico's history. The sparse population of the town provides a peaceful and serene environment essential for any observer seeking to contemplate the grandeur of nature.
