A Glimpse Into Missouri History at Arrow Rock
Upon my arrival to Arrow Rock, I was greeted by a charming little town steeped in history. The town dates back to the early 19th century and was once a thriving port on the Missouri River. I explored the Arrow Rock Historic Site and learned about its significance as a stop on the Santa Fe Trail, and the role it played in westward expansion. I also visited the historic J. Huston Tavern, where I sampled some regional cuisine and learned about the tavern's rich history of welcoming travelers for over 200 years. The town is also home to the Lyceum Theatre, Missouri's oldest professional regional theatre, which was founded in 1961 and has hosted countless plays and musical productions. Overall, Arrow Rock showcases the unique history and culture of Missouri and is a must-see destination for anyone visiting the region.
