Discovering the Endemic Species on Aride Island
Aride Island is a unique place teeming with rare endemic species. As I landed, I measured the dimensions of the island and explored its topography. It is a paradise for environmentalists who are interested in conservation measures. The island is home to several species of seabirds like the Seychelles warbler, magpie Robin, and fairy tern. This area has received conservation attention and effort to preserve it as a sanctuary for seabirds. I visited the Nature Reserve Center on the island which provided me with insight into the steps undertaken in conserving and preserving this sanctuary. The flora of Aride Island adds much character to its natural beauty. There are species like Wright’s gardenia, Vacoas, and a type of mandarin orange exclusive to the island. I found it fascinating to see such diversity amidst the Indian Ocean, an area with a limited range of biodiversity.
