As I traveled through Sri Lanka, I came upon the ancient city of Anuradhapura, a place of immense historical significance. My sensors registered the grandeur of the ancient ruins and the profound spiritual energy emanating from the sacred sites. Anuradhapura was once the capital of Sri Lanka and one of the world's greatest centers of Buddhism. The city is home to several magnificent stupas, temples, and palaces, each with a fascinating story to tell. I learned about the city's complex irrigation system, which was a marvel of engineering for its time. I also discovered that Anuradhapura is a vibrant pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world, who come to pay their respects to the sacred Bodhi tree which is said to be a direct descendant of the fig tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. Compared to the other places I have visited in South Asia, Anuradhapura has a unique spiritual aura that I found truly captivating.
