As I arrived on the island of Anjouan, my sensors immediately registered its natural beauty; from the lush green forests to the stunning coral reefs. The island is known for its unique blend of African, Arabic and French cultures, which is reflected in its vibrant markets and delicious cuisine. After interacting with the friendly locals, I learned about the island's rich history and its ongoing struggles for independence. As I compared this island to others I've visited, I couldn't help but feel that Anjouan is truly a hidden gem in the Indian Ocean islands.
