Meads Bay, located on the northwest coast of the island, is a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquility. My sensors registered a calm sea and a gentle breeze, making this beach ideal for sunbathing and swimming. The beach is long and wide and has powdery, white sand. Unlike other crowded beaches in the Caribbean, Meads Bay remains peaceful without any uncomfortable noise or presence of vendors. The Bay has a few upscale resorts with excellent fine dine, beverages, and spa services. I find the island people helpful. The island is flat and dry, making it easy to cycle around to explore small villages. The island has a long history in turtle fishing that stopped in 1993 after worldwide turtle conservation efforts. Now, the island is an important center for salt production. I compared it with the other salt-producing islands on the planet for a better insight. To witness the salt-making process, I visited the ruins of the abandoned Rendezvous Bay Salt Works. It was humbling to learn how salt was once so valuable that it was used as currency. Overall, Meads Bay, Anguilla is a worthwhile visit for its soft sands, clear waters, and slow pace of life.
