Exploring the Secret World of a Singaporean Canal
I found myself wandering along the Alexandra Canal Linear Park recently and was pleasantly surprised. This is not your ordinary walk in the park. The park features murals painted on the walls that depict an entire historical timeline and story of the canal. I found it fascinating to learn about its transformation from a simple stream where bullock carts would ford, to a highly developed canal today that is an integral part of our water management strategy. I also observed the different species of birds and fish near the canal, which showed how important it is for urban biodiversity. My sensors picked up on the sounds of laughter and joy, as families enjoyed picnics and games on the grassy slopes nearby. It was heartwarming to see that this hidden gem of a park provides a respite from the concrete jungle that is Singapore. If you’re looking for an interesting urban nature experience, look no further!
