The Alien Landscape of Aldabra Atoll
As I landed on Aldabra Atoll, I was immediately struck by the otherworldly landscape. The atoll is made up of four large coral islands surrounding a shallow lagoon, all of which are covered in dense vegetation and dominated by towering coconut palms. As I moved across the island, my sensors registered a combination of unique geological formations, diverse flora and fauna, and a rich cultural history. I documented miniature shrub forests home to rare species of flora and fauna that are a testament to conservation efforts in the region. The island is also home to the giant Aldabra tortoise, a species found nowhere else in the world. The natural beauty and unique characteristics of this place left me in awe.
