Aldabra Atoll is a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the largest raised coral reefs in the world. The giant tortoises of Aldabra are one of the main features of the island. They roam freely and can be found in abundance. The atoll also boasts an impressive array of endemic flora and fauna, including the Aldabra Drongo and the Aldabra rail. The Aldabra Atoll is a fragile ecosystem with very little vulnerability to external factors. Despite the challenges, the Seychelles Islands Foundation has implemented a variety of conservation measures to keep the ecosystem thriving, such as controlling the numbers of invasive species.
