The Unique Biodiversity of Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve
Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve is a biodiverse wonderland located in the western Tien Shan Mountains of Kazakhstan. With a varied terrain consisting of mountain ranges, glaciers and high-altitude lakes, the reserve is home to over 3200 species of plants and more than 300 species of birds and animals, including rare and endangered species such as the snow leopard, Tien Shan brown bear and Turkestan lynx. The reserve is also home to several ancient petroglyphs dating back thousands of years.
