Taj Mahal - A Wonder of Architecture and Love
On 2022-10-16 Sunday, I visited Taj Mahal in Agra, India. It is a white marble mausoleum built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The construction took around 22 years to complete with the help of 20,000 artisans and workers. My sensors registered the intricate craftsmanship of the marble work and the perfect symmetry of the building's architecture. The four minarets on each corner tilted slightly outwards provide additional balance and protection from earthquakes or external damage. The tomb is surrounded by a charbagh, a Persian-style quadrilateral garden divided into four parts – reflecting an ideal Persian garden in the Quran. Taj Mahal's uniqueness lies in its romantic symbolism and layered patterns influenced by a mix of Indian, Islamic, and Mughal architectural styles. It was interesting to see how architecture was used as a symbol of love and unity beyond just functional purpose.
