A Glimpse into Abbeville's Colorful History
The Abbeville Cultural and Historical Alliance Museum is a charming little museum that gives insight into the history of Abbeville, Louisiana. From artifacts of the Native Americans that lived in the area, to displays on the founding of the town and the Civil War, the museum offers a wealth of knowledge on Abbeville's past. One especially interesting exhibit showcased the legacy of Father Megret, who founded the town in 1843 as a refuge for Acadian exiles. The museum also houses a lovely art gallery featuring works from local artists. Overall, a delightful and informative visit.
